NEW HAT FTU

Any similarity to any other tutorial is purely coincidental

You will need:

Font of choice – I used Coventry Garden, found

Scrapkit is a lovely FTU kit called Monochrome, by MizTeeques Scrap. You can find this kit

Tube of choice. I used My New Hat, by Barbara Jensen. You can purchase these beautiful tubes from Barbara’s site.

Mask of choice – I used 0Mask 11 LT1-1.  I am unsure where I got this mask, so if It is yours, please let me know and I will give appropriate credits.
You can get it

Template 5 from Denz Designz. When you open it for some reason it says #4, but it is definitely the right one lol


Resize template 120%, all layers checked.
Image - Canvas size 700 x 700.
Click on Raster 1 at the bottom and fill with white.
Delete top layer (copyright)

Select two colours from your tube. I used foreground #8f2929 and background #061024
Make a background gradient, angle45 repeats 1
Add new raster layer above white background, and fill with gradient.
Apply 0Mask 11 LT1-1
In layers palette, merge group.
Stretch mask to all edges.
Drop opacity to 75.

Element 39 (sequin scatter) – Resize 60% and position in top right corner. Sharpen.
Duplicate – mirror. Merge both sequin layers together.
Duplicate – flip. Merge both together.
Dropshadow.

Starting at the bottom, we are now going to fill our template layers.

Large Square – Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat.
Layers – new raster layer. Paste Paper 7 into selection. DO NOT DESELECT.
Selections – modify – expand 3. Layers – new raster layer. Fill black.
Deselect.
Move black layer below paper 7 layer.
Sharpen paper.
Dropshadow black square.

Strip 1 -  Adjust – add noise uniform 80, monochrome checked.
Sharpen.
Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat. Selections – modify – expand 2. Layers – new raster layer. Fill with black.
Deselect.
Move black shape below Strip 1.
Dropshadow black.

Large Circle - Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat.
Layers – new raster layer. Paste Paper 11 into selection. DO NOT DESELECT.
Selections – modify – expand 3. Layers – new raster layer. Fill with white.
Deselect.
Move white layer below paper 11 layer.
Sharpen paper.
Dropshadow white circle.

Square 3 – Position tube above square as you want it. Dropshadow.
Click on square 3. Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat.
Layers – new raster layer. Fill with black. DO NOT DESELECT.
Selections – invert. Click on tube and hit delete.
Deselect.
Duplicate tube. On bottom copy, Layers – properties – Luminance legacy.
On top copy Layers – properties – Overlay.
Drop opacity of both tubes to 44

Frame - Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat.
Layers – new raster layer. Paste Paper 11 into selection. DO NOT DESELECT.
Selections – modify – expand 3. Layers – new raster layer. Fill with white.
Deselect.
Move white layer below paper 11 layer.
Sharpen paper.
Dropshadow white frame.

Square 2 - Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat.
Layers – new raster layer. Paste Paper 12 into selection.
Sharpen.
Add words to this square if you wish.

Frame – Same as previous frame

Square 1 – Same as Square 3. but mirror tube.

Frame – Same as previous frame

Element 9 (bow) – Resize 30% then 50%. Sharpen.
Position to the left of the top square frame.
Dropshadow.

Element 18 (flower) – Resize 30% then 80%. Position.
Duplicate – mirror and move to desired position.
Dropshadow both.

Main Tube – Dropshadow.

Add any other embellishments of choice
