GRANDMAS GIRL PTU

You will need:

Font of choice – I used Manga Temple, found

Template 120 by Denz Designz

Scrapkit is another Gorgeous PTU Christmas kit called Christmas at Gramms House by Nicky of Inzpired Creationz.
You can purchase this kit

Tube of choice. I used Sitting Pretty by Keith Garvey.
You can purchase these beautiful tubes from Keith’s store

Mask of choice – I used 0Mask046 LT.
I’m not sure where I got this mask, so I have supplied it. Please let me know if this is yours, and I will either remove, or supply credits.

Snow – in my Supplies

Two Christmas background scenes, or the ones I used which are in supplies

This tutorial may look a little daunting to start with, but if you follow each step and take your time, you should be just fine J


Open Template 120 by Denz Designz.
Copy, and close original

Resize 115%, all layers checked.
Image - Canvas size 700 x 700.

Delete copyright, heartline 1, heartline 2, life is sweet 2, life is sweet 1, pink square shadow 1.

Click on background at the bottom.
Fill with white.

Layers – new raster layer.
Selections – select all. Paste Paper 4 into selection.
Deselect.
Apply mask 0Mask046 LT
In layers palette, merge group.
Adjust – Hue and Saturation – Colorize 255  255
Drop opacity to 67

Large Blue Circle – Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat. Layers – new raster layer. Paste Paper 6 into selections.
Deselect.
Delete template layer.

Garland 1 (from kit) – Flip. Position above large circle layer and move up a bit.
Sharpen. Duplicate – flip.
Merge both garland layers together, and then merge again with the paper 6 circle.
Rename GARLANDS,
Dropshadow.

Pink Square - Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat. Layers – new raster layer. Paste Paper 9 into selections.
Deselect.
Sharpen Paper.
Delete template layer

Merge together the 2 strips top and 2 strips bottom layers.
Resize Paper 8 80% then 90%.

Paste resized Paper 8 below the merged 2 strips layer and move around until it is in place. Sharpen.

Click on strips layer. Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat. Selections – modify – contract 4. Selections – invert. Click on Paper 8 and hit delete
Rename STRIPS.
Delete template layer.

Click on STRIPS layer again. Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat. Selections – modify – expand 6. Layers – new raster layer. Paste Paper 3 into selection.
Deselect.
Rename STRIPS FRAME

In layers palette, move STRIPS above STRIPS FRAME layer.
Click on STRIPS. Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat. Click on STRIPS FRAME and hit delete.
Deselect.

To STRIPS FRAME, give inner bevel of choice and Dropshadow.

Pink Circle - Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat. Layers – new raster layer. Paste one of the Christmas scenes into selection. DO NOT DESELECT. Selections – modify – expand 4. Layers – new raster layer. Paste Paper 3 into selection.
Deselect. Sharpen both paper layers.
Rename Christmas scene CHRISTMAS 1. Rename Paper 3 layer CHRISTMAS 1 FRAME.
DO NOT DELETE TEMPLATE LAYER. Click the little eye to the left of the pink template layer to close it off for now.

In layers palette, move CHRISTMAS 1 FRAME to sit above CHRISTMAS 1.
Click on CHRISTMAS 1. Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat.
Click on CHRISTMAS 1 FRAME and hit delete.
Deselect.

Sharpen frame and give inner bevel of choice.
Dropshadow.

Blue Circle - Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat. Layers – new raster layer. Paste the second Christmas scene into selection. DO NOT DESELECT. Selections – modify – expand 4. Layers – new raster layer. Paste Paper 3 into selection.
Deselect. Sharpen both paper layers.
Rename Christmas scene CHRISTMAS 2. Rename Paper 3 layer CHRISTMAS 2 FRAME.
DO NOT DELETE TEMPLATE LAYER. Click the little eye to the left of the blue template layer to close it off for now.

In layers palette, move CHRISTMAS 2 FRAME to sit above CHRISTMAS 2.
Click on CHRISTMAS 2. Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat.
Click on CHRISTMAS 2 FRAME and hit delete.
Deselect.

Sharpen frame and give inner bevel of choice.
Dropshadow.

Branch 1 – Resize 75% and paste above mask layer bottom left.
Sharpen. Dropshadow.

Beads – Resize 60% then 80%. Position above STRIPS FRAME layer on left.
Sharpen. Duplicate – mirror.
Dropshadow both.

Candle 2 – Paste above Beads layer and leave where it lands.
Sharpen. Dropshadow.

Tube – Paste, and slide over to the right so she is sitting on the strip.
Dropshadow.

Bird – Resize 40% then 60%. Sharpen.
Duplicate – mirror and resize 85%.
Dropshadow both.

In layers palette, go back to your pink and blue template circles. Leave them closed off, but move up so they sit above CHRISTMAS 2.  Blue should be above pink. Merge blue circle template down to pink circle template.

OK . . . Snow Time

 Click on the merged pink/blue template layer.

Selections – select all. Selections – float. Selections – defloat. Layers – new raster layer (name it SNOW1 before you click OK)

Go to Snow 484 x 484 and copy frame 1.
Back to your tag, and paste into selection DO NOT DESELECT!

Layers – new raster layer (rename SNOW2 before you click OK)

Back to Snow 484 x 484 and copy frame 2
Back to your tag, and paste into selection DO NOT DESELECT!

Layers – new raster layer (rename SNOW3 before you click OK)

Back to Snow 484 x 484 and copy frame 3
Back to your tag, and paste into selection DO NOT DESELECT!

Layers – new raster layer (rename SNOW4 before you click OK)

Keep doing this with all the snow frames from Snow 484 x 484, pasting each one into selection in a new raster layer above the other.

Deselect only after pasting the 10th snow layer into selection.

You should end up with 10 snow layers.

Now in layers palette, go to each of the snow layers, and click the little eye to the left to close it. Do this to all snow layers except SNOW1.

You can now delete the pink/blue template layer.

If you don’t want to animate, then only paste one layer of snow into selection.

Add any other embellishments of choice

Add copyrights


Ready to Animate??

Open Animation Shop.

In PSP make sure all snow layers are closed off, except SNOW1
Edit – Copy Special – Copy merged.
Go to Animation shop. Edit – paste – as new animation.

Back to PSP.
Close SNOW1 and open SNOW2.
 Edit – Copy Special – Copy merged.
Go to Animation shop. Edit – paste – after current frame.

Back to PSP.
Close SNOW2 and open SNOW3.
 Edit – Copy Special – Copy merged.
Go to Animation shop. Edit – paste – after current frame.

Repeat this last step, closing off one snow layer and opening the next until you have 10 frames in Animation shop.

In Animation Shop.
Edit – select all
Animation – animation properties.
Check box opaque and change colour to white. Click OK.

Edit – select all
Animation – frame properties. Change display time to 5

Save as a gif file.

I hope this wasn’t too confusing, as it’s a lovely snow effect if you take the time to do it.
