CAPRICORN FTU

Written by Gwenda on November 22nd 2011
Any similarity to any other tutorial is purely coincidental

You will need:

Font of choice – I used Tara Type, found

Scrapkit by Fantasy Moments called Mystik Gothic FTU found

Tube of choice. I used Capricorn by The Hunter. These tubes can be purchased through PTE

Mask of choice – I used 181 Insatiable Dreams. It’s in group 6

DBV Template. I used Capricorn which can be found under templates - Zodiac

Open CapricornTemplate. Copy, and close original.
Image – canvas size 700 x 700
Click on white layer at the bottom and floodfill white ( make sure you click on the little eye to open the layer)

Delete Raster 7 ( copyright ) and top layer (Capricorn with glow). Also raster 2 (light grey circle)

Dropshadow as you go.
Close off all template layers once you have dealt with them ( I preferred not to delete them until I was finished, just in case I needed to refer back to the numbers)

HANDY HINT:
To achieve a frame effect on shapes:
Make sure the larger shape is above the smaller one.
Click on smaller shape and go to Selections – select all – float – defloat
Click on larger shape and hit delete.
Deselect.

Add new raster layer on top of white background. Selections – select all – paste paper 7 into selection. Deselect. MIrror

Layers – load/save mask 181Insatiable Dreams
Merge group.
Resize Mask 90% ( resize all layers unchecked), then stretch to the right side.

Rename all layers, starting with the white background as L1, mask as L2, and working up from there to the Capricorn which will be L17.
You will find that a few extra layers appear in the layer palette as we go on, but as long as you have numbered as above, you will be able to see which layer you are working on at the time.

L3 (dark grey circle) – Adjust Hue & Saturation – Colorize 255    190
Effects - texture effects - Weave with settings 1   4    1,  Both colours black

L4 - (dark frame) - Selections - select all - Float - defloat – Layers – New raster layer
Paste Paper 7 into selection.
Deselect.
Sharpen. Dropshadow

L5 ( circle of words ) – Resize 105%, using smart size, with Resize all layers unchecked
Adjust sharpness – sharpen more.
Now we want to fill this wordart with colour
HINT: A quick and effective way to do this, especially with any shape or words with fiddly little bits in, is as follows:
Add a new raster layer above L5. Fill with colour #A91c1E. Resize layer 98% ( all layers unchecked).
Click on L5, - Selections - select all - Float - defloat - selections - invert.
Click on red layer and hit delete.
Deselect.
Merge red down onto black. Give inner bevel.
Dropshadow

Click on L6 - Selections - select all - Float - defloat - selections – invert
Click on Paper 12 and hit delete.

L7 (white goats) – Inner bevel. Dropshadow

L8 (frame) – Set foreground colour to White and background to Black.
Make background gradient 45 degrees and 3 repeats.
